“Sound of a human”

The shrill musical alarm interrupts the silence Heralding the start to another cycle of greyness Bones squeak under the scruffy patterned quilt As wasting muscles disembark from the bed Leftover TV dinners strewn across the kitchen bench Await the weekly cleaning lady, my only visitor   Today is Tuesday- cleaning day, so I proceed to the shower Washed and dressed I await my guest with a bowl of almost mouldy cereal Of course I wouldn’t admit I am waiting Waiting for a smile, a ‘hello’ and a ‘goodbye’. Joseph, my love, chose heaven ten years ago My children interstate, overseas, outstanding   The leaves from the oak crunch under the car’s tyres Footsteps approach soon after, black work shoes I know I let the doorbell ring and slowly walk to the door The door is flung open to ‘Good morning, Mrs Joseph!’ I gruffly mumble a greeting, hiding my smile I settle into the beautiful sound of a human in my house   Who am I, Whose am...

Boxes

I lived in boxes Safe, defined, certain I knew what each contained My lil world of knowing A beautiful box called God An exciting box called career An overflowing box for ministry And an intricate box for marriage And then these were gone Faith, career, ministry, family All afloat in what feels like nothingness But is in fact everythingness Not limited by my beliefs Not limited by my understanding not limited by my experiences Not even by my desires Room for deeper wider higher Of the unknown Freedom from expectations Freedom from fear Freedom to fly, to be carried What or who removed these boxes God, gently unclenched my fists That held on tightly for fear Insecurity sadness grief anger Healed, i let go of all i had known and loved Left open to the forces of nature Open to be moved outside and away Open to see new ways lands people work Open to not know much Open to be a tiny little speck of dust Awaiting not a box to live in But to allow God and ...

Lost writings

I have written a lot in these many years. Innumerable poems. However, I usually write and share it with a few friends and forget all about it. I tend not to save anything I write. I really want to change that. I usually write when I feel compelled by my heart to do so to express a certain truth, especially poems. What's a bit crazy is that I don't enjoy reading poems, but I love the process of writing them. Maybe why I don't end up saving it. Anyway, let's see how I go now with saving them!

Beloved Dust

29 July 2025 I prayed may He increase may I decrease I prayed that there’d be less of me and more HIM And suddenly i cant tell who i am Suddenly i cant be found The joy of answered prayer Asking for things you know nothing of Feeling like a dust particle unseen unknown A ray of light hits and its gone Distress, unfamiliar, uncharted God tell me who i am again Tell me who you are again All i know is you are everything And i am nothing You are big i am not Grant me the grace to accept To accept this place of Nothingness Nobodyness Minisculeness Grant me stillness Grant that this dust particle know Her place in the massive expanse of your chest I dont see your eyes your face your hands Too close to see all of You O Lord let this dust particle be content to see nothing To rest on Your heart that beats within Your chest No grand prayers or spiritual dances Just rise and fall rise and fall With Your every breath With every beat of Your sacred heart Ma...

Ruins

Descending into the valley True self comes to light Water flows to the lowest places The path downward is clear, bright The castle of my imagination Enormous perfect and wise With Your penetrative look of love Sadly but willingly, dies Whats left around the skeleton? A weight of selfish pride Hiding behind ‘love’ and ‘help’ and ‘holy’ A willful disobedient child I look up then to the mountains From the valley my downcast eyes I do raise Oh hope! Your river of blood rushing down To save this wretched sinner, only, only by Grace

Appa(Dad)

8 April 2025 I hear the soft chirping of birds I smell the fragrance of morning dew My Appa wakes me and carries me To our beautiful warm rendezvous I lay on His shoulder and He sings over me Beloved beautiful daughter how I love you Come awake to all my creation The Earth and all I add to it thats true Opening my eyes, no longer dazed He strokes my head and holds my chin Looking deep within my eyes he says My child, my Light and Self you carry within Let me show you the places dark and cold Where your warmth and light bring joy untold Let me clothe you with compassion and strength and peace So the gospel stands steady and firm on your feet Come my darling let me feed you some bread That satisfies blesses and takes away all dread Take this drink of water let it become in you a well That gurgles and overflows and brings to life whats dead Let me put some balm on your little wounds Let me fortify your joints and bones afresh Come, I cant send you out unp...
